The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
